SPIRITUAL SUNDAY - THE CARDS AND ANSWERED PRAYER

It was just two Christmas cards a few days before Christmas, unexpected, yet treasured. Sometimes God answers prayers in the most ordinary ways. When I saw the return address on the cards, my breath caught in my throat...Paradise Manor it said...my parents are in the same nursing facility in another state and have been since 2004. Both need specialized care as Mother is 88 and has Parkinson's and Dad is 89 and has Alzheimer's.

I pray for them every day and my prayer is always the same, "Lord, please Bless and keep Mother and Dad and let the people who care for them be gentle and kind."

Well, without some kind soul taking the time to bring in the cards, helping Mom and Dad sign them, finding my address on Mom's bulletin board (I send a card every week), writing out the address, paying the postage and mailing the cards, there isn't anyway my parents could have sent anything!

"Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
-1 John 5:14-15, NJKV

Oh, did I mention two cards? The second card Dad wanted sent to his brother, Bill. My Uncle Bill passed away about 15 years ago. That's when the tears started...

Thank you to Charlotte and Ginger for allowing us to gather here for our Spiritual Sunday posts.

I know it must be hard for you with your parents in another state. What a treasure to receive these cards.

This is such a sweet post. It brought back memories of my own parents. They both died in a nursing home in the late 90s. They died exactly one year apart. It was September 3. Mother was 86. Daddy was 85. I'm praying for your parents and for you. I know how hard it is.
Blessings,
Charlotte

God knows how much you love and honor your parents, even though you can not be with them. Be filled with peace and know that they are in His care. Thanks for sharing your life with us. This is a very precious post.

What a wonderful story! And may God bless the one who helped your Mom and Dad! That is motivational... even when we think what we do may be small or insignificant... it can turn out that it was an answer to prayer.

What a bittersweet post... and that's one of my very favorite verses of Scripture.

It's amazing that God brings little messages to us in such simple, yet extraordinary ways. Your prayers for wonderful caregivers have been answered. I know it must be difficult to have your parents so far away...but at least they are being cared for by extraordinary people.

My mom turns 91 this weekend...had lunch with her today. What a remarkable woman! I am blessed that she is only an hour away.

Blessings,
Jane (artfully graced)

ps Thank you for your sweet comments today.
