It is like quietly opening the

door

And slipping into the very

presence of God;

There in the stillness

To listen to His voice;

Perhaps to petition

Or only to listen,

It matters not;

Just to be there in His pres-

ence

SIMPLE PLEASURES - OLD GLORY

One of the things I enjoy doing is walking my neighborhood for exercise and just seeing what is going on around me. My Simple Pleasure today is Old Glory! I love to see flags waving in the breeze and this one caught my eye and I just had to take a picture. While I was out and about, I was also enjoying all the Halloween decorations and here, in my opinion, I caught the essence of the day at this home on my street.

INTERCESSORY PRAYER

YOU PRAYED FOR ME

You did not know my need,
Or that my heart was sore
indeed,
Or that my fears I could not
quell,
But you sensed that some-
thing wasn't well,
And so you prayed for
me.

My path had turned from
light to black
There seemed to be no
turning back,
Then in my loneliness I felt
God near,
And down the road a light
dawned clear

SIMPLE PLEASURES

A Simple Pleasure that never fails to attract my attention are Rummage Sales! Even though I only found a couple of books at this particular sale...I can't help but "rummage" through all the junk and stuff that are usually donated to churches for their sales. Sometimes there is some good stuff: handmade one of a kind items that you usually can't find anywhere else. This particular sale was in my friend's church in Ocean City and, since it was a beautiful day I didn't mind driving over to that island city.

SIMPLE PLEASURES

Today I am at the driving range with girlfriend, Joyce, who is just starting to enjoy the game of golf. When we can, we either play a nine hole course or come out and just practice. This was a practice day and we had a good time - and that to me is a very real Simple Pleasure. RESCUE

The ongoing rescue of the Chilean miners has been one of the most riveting scenes I've seen, I think since the rescue efforts at Ground Zero on 9/11/01. This picture of the first miner to be brought to the surface came at around 10:15 pm last night as I was watching TV.

The little boy and his mother, the wife and child of the miner, can be seen crying in the background. I was crying and laughing all at the same time. Many miners credited their belief in God for getting them out of the mine and, for me, I KNOW that the many prayers sent up for their release were heard.

As she walked toward the train, she hesitated; would he remember - could he ever love her again or was this all for naught? "All aboard!"

SIMPLE PLEASURES

This Simple Pleasure is something my daughter, Jillian of Bella Rosa Antiques and I have been doing for a number of years. It all started with some wine and cheese and a whole stack of Christmas cards one evening that turned into a contest of who could come up with the best idea for a gift tag! Not that we're competitive or anything! :) Well, it stuck with me and I just enjoy turning one thing into "something else!" So, save your cards, no matter what kind and see what you can come up with to decorate packages (birthday cards and other greeting cards work great, too.)
