I received this beautiful, blue Lobelia plant from my Secret Sister, Susan at a luncheon Thursday for our Women's Bible Study. I added the flags for Memorial Day!

AS WE CELEBRATE MEMORIAL DAY

As we celebrate this Memorial Day with family and friends, hot dogs and hamburgers, watermelon and cup cakes, let us never forget the many who gave their all for our freedom! If there is a parade in your town - take your family to see it and give support to those veterans who proudly walk or ride in that parade!

I hope you and yours have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend!

A GOLF OUTING FOR OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY

I am on a golf outing with my friend Joyce today and I promised another friend, Dana of The Stone Rabbit that I would wear the pink cap that I won in a contest she had a while back. Don't I look very chic? It is so pretty and sparkly! While I on the other hand I look like I need a new outfit to go golfing in! lol!

It was a gorgeous day, pretty blue skies, white puffy clouds, a cool breeze and SUNSHINE!
I did land in the sand trap once or twice!

There I am way across the fairway I think I am looking for a lost ball! I lost quite a few of them today, some in the water and some in the woods! ( SMILE )

It looks rather threatening in this picture, but it was only for a brief time and then the sun came out again and stayed out for the rest of the afternoon. We did get scolded by the lady who takes care of the clubhouse who came riding out in her broomcart, er, I mean her golf cart because we were going so slow that we were holding up two groups who wanted to play through. . .we were so unaware of anyone we had no clue when she said they were whistling for us to let them play through, Joyce said, "If I'd heard any whistles, I'd have just thought they thought we were "hot!" LOL! She's a real card that Joyce is! :)

MY FAVORITE TV EVENT EVER!

In my humble opinion, L O S T was one of the most ambitious television shows to be broadcast in the history of the medium! I watched enthralled for six seasons and for six seasons I was not disappointed. The cast was excellent and the writers amazing - keeping us on the edges of our seats for every episode and for every season's cliff hanger.
You just can't get any better than that! Thank you to the writers, actors, crew and everyone associated with this wonderful and creative journey. LOST, there will never be another television event like you! Namaste, all!

OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY

Here we are in the garden looking at my little garden chair and handmade wooden basket made to look like a birdhouse! When I was growing up we called these Irises "flags."

In this picture, you can see a little further down the fence line at some plantings (Hydrangea) that I hope will bloom this year! In the foreground you can see my fun sign that says "weeds!" (I move it around the garden as needed! lol!)
Below is another view along the fence...

.
A pretty shot of the purple Iris and in the background is a maroon and white Iris just starting to bloom.

This is a beautiful maroon and white Iris. I was lucky to get the picture before the heavy rains we had yesterday knocked it down! Another is budding in the background.
...and here are flags of another kind in my neighbor's yard~GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Thank you for stopping by on Outdoor Wednesday. If you would like to see more Outdoor Wednesday pictures go on over to Susan atA Southern Day Dreamer HERE.

OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY

Every Spring, during mating season, we have visitors to our backyards (usually via the roof of my house!) and he (the drake) follows her (the hen) faithfully where ever SHE wants to go. It is kind of funny to watch them as you know he is not going anywhere until she dismisses him when the chicks hatch! He is very protective of her and chases away any other drake that happens to stop by!

Please stop by to see Susan at A Southern Day Dreamer to see more Outdoor Wednesday posts HERE.

A CRAFTING WE WILL GO!

I decided that today was going to be crafting day...I like to make paper gift boxes (or for storing items from jewelry to just about anything!) and I had just purchased some pretty scrapbook paper from ACMoore on clearance. Which is the only time to buy! Ha! Here is the top of one of the first boxes of the two that I made today. (I really formed four boxes - 2 tops and 2 bottoms.) I need a yardstick as I am going to be using 12 x 12 paper today, and it just makes it easier to measure. Just a pencil, scissors, paper slicer and the paper is all that is necessary!
I start by drawing a line from corner to corner (on all four corners) - before making the folds.
Some of the pretty papers I have collected along the way!

Here are the two boxes finished. (Some other time I'll do a tutorial on how to make the folds in order to form the box - I just didn't have the time today.)

They are shown partly open in this picture.

And I finished up the photo shoot with one box on top of the other!

A GOOD DAY FOR TRAVELIN'

As I mentioned in a blog of a few days (weeks!) ago I went to visit my daughter and her family in PA. It was a beautiful morning when I left but quickly turned cloudy and rainy on my way. It continued to rain that night but the next morning was beautiful and we decided that a day in the park was just what we needed. Here I am being given some flowers (dandelions) from a sweet little girl. We had had a fine time running around the grassy park/picnic area and discovering all kinds of neat things, a stone, a stick and some pretty yellow flowers!

Next we had to try out the big slide and after two times sliding down first with Mommy and then Gramma, Bebe thought she ought to try it on her own and to our great surprise, she LOVED every minute of it! Just look at Gramma hanging onto the sides of the slide with both hands!
Here she is at the bottom and looks as though she is ready to try it again! I DID IT!
...and up she goes with anxious Mommy in the background, "Be careful now!"

Look at me Mommy! I can do it myself! We had such a good time walking around in the sunshine, watching Mommy feed the ducks and geese in the small pond (should have gotten a picture of it!) It is surprising how tired a Gramma can get with all this activity. I was only away four days but it took me two days to recover!! Being' a Gramma is the BEST!
