Every Spring, during mating season, we have visitors to our backyards (usually via the roof of my house!) and he (the drake) follows her (the hen) faithfully where ever SHE wants to go. It is kind of funny to watch them as you know he is not going anywhere until she dismisses him when the chicks hatch! He is very protective of her and chases away any other drake that happens to stop by!

I love hearing about everybody's spring visitors. I have thought about hatching duckling eggs as "they say" that they'll come back every year to where they were born- and wouldn't that be fun? But I've also heard ducklings make quite a mess...
CailinMarie,
Yes, they can create quite a mess if they stayed all the time, however, they always leave and go back to the pond where they live! Thank goodness!

That's pretty special. Your own pair of ducks.
A pair of ducks -- I hope they have their nest near your yard for protection. People here at the parks have been gathering up the duck and the goose eggs and taking them home for food I guess--wish they would not. but then again at Easter people buy cute baby chicks and goslings then they get big and they bring them down to the pond to live -- you can always tell which ones they are for they never leave in the winter.
Well count your lucky ducks in a row or some sort of thing like that Happy Outdoor Wednesday.

Even mating ducks make for a great post. That was a cute idea. Thanks for stopping by for a visit.
What a great picture you captured! I enjoyed seeing it. laurie
How I wish I could see ducks in our backyard too.I love your beautiful picture. Thank you for sharing.
That must be exciting to see the pair huddle close with each other. The Lord truly had put so much details in every thing He created. God bless you.
There's nothing cuter than seeing the little babies line up and follow mom around. I always thought the dad stayed in the picture, too, but guess not. Too bad....it takes "a village" in this day and age...even for ducks! :)
Hope you've had a great post-Mother's Day week! L, dana
