One of my very favorite things to do is watch movies. I'm pretty discriminating and try not to waste my time watching movies that don't come highly recommended. I count on family to tell me their favorites and Christianity Today's Movie Reviews and any and all reviews I come across. One Christmas I was given a gift certificate to Netflix and, boy, was I hooked. What could be better. I pick movies from their lists of thousands, they send them to my house and I can return them whenever. Very cool. Anyway, all this to say I let my family and friends know my "Favs and Blahs" by way of my notes to them via the Netflix program. Sooooooo, I'm going to let YOU in on some of my favs and/or some movies that just didn't do it for me! I use what is known in the TV biz (according to my daughter) as "choppy copy." I used plus signs on a scale of one to five to show my own personal ratings of them. Here are some examples:
The Spiderwick Chronicles PG +++
"Definitely not a kids movie. Some of the creatures were cute but most were creepy and scary. Children were always running into them or running from them."
Definitely, Maybe PG-13 ++++
"I guarantee you will definitely like this story - - and no maybes about it!"
Disturbia PG-13 +++
"Modern take on Alfred Hitchcock's 'Rear Window' is disturbingly good. An edgy evening of entertainment."
Bella PF-13 ++++
"Abortion is never mentioned in this anti-abortion movie...but you will be inspired by the very 'Bella' ending."
Miss Potter PG +++++
"Charming charming - perfectly charming...I really liked it."
Deja Vu PG-13 ++++
"Great science fiction roller coaster ride...stands with the best of them."
The Forgotten PG-13 +++
"Quickly forgotten 99 minute ride. Pure escapism for SCIFI buffs."
Carrie's War +++
"Start with a sweet story, mix in good acting and quaint surroundings, add some history of WWII and you have a recipe for an evening of wholesome entertainment. Enjoy!"
The Prestige PG-13 +++
"So murky and dark it was difficult to work my way through the plot line. Too bad, it just wasn't magic for me."
Miss Austin Regrets ++++
"Movie is based on Jane's life and much of it is taken directly from her letters to family, friends and would be suitors. I think she would have approved - - I know I did."
National Treasure: Book of Secrets PG +++
"Not too bad if you don't mind an evening of silly."
I'm thinking I might make this an ongoing part of my blog...let me know what you think!

Great CHOPPY Copy! My ol TV hound bosses would have approved...
Yes, I say keep 'em comin. We LOVE to weed out the bad ones and you could be our MOVIE WATCH GIRL.
You go, Ms. Daisy!
Jillian
I think that is an excellent idea Ms. Daisy. I sat down the other night to watch a movie I had so been looking forward to seeing which included a favorite actress of mine. I was so disappointed. The movie, in my opinion was awful and I was upset with the actress for making it. So yeah, run with the idea. Have a beautiful day. ~ Lynn
Thank you, ladies, for the vote of confidence! Will continue on the hunt for enjoyable and watchable movies!
DO keep reviewing movies for us to watch because people rarely do that. I do it on occasion if I watch something very good and redeeming and want to pass it along to others.
I just canceled my Netflix because I couldn't keep up with it. HA! We hardly had time to watch the movies that were coming in.....so...I will just pick something up once in a while. Like we used to do.
Thanks!
Joyce
Thanks for stopping by my blog. You have a lovely one.
I also loved Miss Potter. I got the sound track also besides the DVD. And Miss Austin Regrets was also really good. I am not that familiar with most of the others you mention. I think a movie review is a good idea.
Thanks for the nice comments, Irene. I hope you get a chance to watch some of the movies I have recommended and let me know YOUR opinion of them!

Hi there, dear friend! I missed you while I was away. And I think the list of movies is a great idea. There are several in this list which I have not seen. Now I can recommend (especially after being in Italy): Tea with Mussolini. Have you seen it? Netfix sounds a great invention. Unfortunately nothing like that here. But I do have a very comprehensive video rental close by and am always on the lookout for good movies. Have a good weekend and I will be touch! At last I have got organised again after being away. Love Eleanor
Hi Jean! I'm going to have to remember that "choppy copy" phrase, I like it.
Very much enjoyed checking out your recent viewing. I have copies of MISS POTTER and MISS AUSTEN REGRETS on hand but haven't watched them yet. (So many movies, so little time...) Glad to hear you give them thumbs up!
Some of the other titles were new to me and I will keep them in mind.
I'll be checking back in future for more reviews!
Best wishes,
Laura
