THE CROSS IN MY POCKET

These pretty little crosses in their pockets were made my an elderly lady in a neighboring church. The last I'd heard she had made more that 500 of these little crosses. Inside each "pocket" typed on a small piece of paper is this poem:
I carry a cross in my pocket
A simple reminder to me
Of the fact that I am a Christian
No matter where I may be.

This little cross isn't magic
Nor is it a good luck charm
It isn't meant to protect me
From every physical harm.

It's not for identification
For all the world to see
It's simply an understanding
Between my Savior and me.

When I put my hand in my pocket
To bring out a coin or a key
The cross is there to remind me
Of the price He paid for me.

It reminds me to be thankful
For my blessings day by day
And to strive to serve Him better
In all that I do and say.

It's also a daily reminder
Of the peace and comfort I share
With all who know my Master
And give themselves to His care.

So, I carry a cross in my pocket
Reminding no one but me
That Jesus Christ is Lord of my life
If only I'll let Him be.

The poem is from "Creative Communications for the Parish" located in St. Louis, MO.

Hi Jean,
I love this poem, great thoughts, for today.
Now, here is something so funny, I was cleaning out an old purse two days ago and found one of these crosses that my mother had made me some years ago. How cool is that. I now carry this in my purse. Thank you for sharing.
Blessings,
Sue

I love that poem. I've seen little tiny crosses with that poem on them...like on a little note card. But the plastic canvas ideal is great.
I can't believe your little one is getting SO big already.....where does the time go? Ugh.
How's the weather up there? It's HOT here. HA! Already.....
