THIS MADE ME PAUSE

Think It Over I'll go where You want me to go, dear Lord; Real service is what I desire; I'll say what You want me to say, dear Lord - "But don't ask me to sing in the choir." I'll say what You want me to say, dear Lord; I like to see things come to pass; But don't ask me to teach girls and boys, dear Lord - "I'd rather stay in my class." I'll do what you want me to do, dear Lord; I yearn for the Kingdom to thrive; I'll give You my nickels and dimes, dear Lord - "But please don't ask me to tithe." I'll go where you want me to go, dear Lord; I'll say what You want me to say; I'm busy just now with myself, dear Lord - "I'll help you some other day." I came across this poem in a devotional in my room at America's Keswick at their Young At Heart conference this past December and thought you might enjoy it as much as I do.

It kind of makes you think, doesn't it? We say we'll do things but when it comes right down to it, how much do we?

It pretty much cuts to the chase, doesn't it?

I remember one Sunday in our church years ago. We sang "I Have Decided to Follow Jesus" as the closing hymn of invitation. At the end of it, an elderly man turned around in his pew near the front and spoke out to the congregation. He said something like, "Really? We just sang that, but I wonder if we really meant it. Would we really go where He leads us, no turning back, or are we just singing?"

I'll never forget it.

And I hope YOU are doing well!!

You know, Jean, sometimes we're just all talk, aren't we? I've always loved that poem and it rings so true. Help me, Lord.

I pray you are doing well.
