THREE BULLETS

There once was a man who had nothing to eat.
He had an old rifle and three bullets

So, he decided he would go out hunting and kill some wild game for dinner.
As he went down the road, he saw a rabbit.
He shot at the rabbit and missed. The rabbit ran away.

Then he saw a squirrel and fired a shot at the squirrel but missed it. The squirrel disappeared into a hole in a cottonwood tree.

As he went further, he saw a large wild "Tom" turkey in the tree, but he only had one bullet remaining.

A voice spoke to him and said, "Pray first, aim high, and stay focused."
However, at the same time, he saw a deer which was a better kill. He brought the gun down and aimed at the deer. But, then he saw a rattlesnake between his legs about to bite him, so he naturally brought the gun down further to shoot the rattlesnake.

Still the voice said again to him, "I said, Pray, aim high and stay focused."

So, the man decided to listen to God's voice. He prayed, then aimed the gun high up in the tree, and shot the wild turkey...

The bullet bounced off the turkey and killed the deer. The handle fell off the gun, hit the snake and killed it. And, when the gun had gone off, it knocked him into a pond.

When he stood up to look around, he had fish in all his pockets, a dead deer, and a turkey for his family to eat.

The snake (Satan) was dead simply because the man listened to GOD.

Moral of the story:

Pray first before you do anything, aim and shoot high in your goals, and stay focused.

"...with God all things are possible."
Matthew 19:26

THE BUZZARD, THE BAT AND THE BUMBLEBEE

THE BUZZARD:
If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10-12 feet. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.

THE BAT:
The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkable nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash.

THE BUMBLEBEE:
A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself.

PEOPLE:
In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat and the bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up! That's the answer, the escape route and the solution to any problem! Just look up. -Unsigned e-mail

Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, but FAITH looks up!
-ANON

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find, knock, and it will be opened to you."
Matthew 7:7 NKJV

A VIEW OF HOME

I wanted to share some photos of my backyard that I took during the past week or so. Everything is so green and lush due to the very rainy spring we've had this year! Most of the area behind my house has been left natural and is quite overgrown. This area is planted with Coleus and Dusty Miller. I just love this little mermaid statute and I placed her in the birdbath - she looks so cute there! I took the wooden bench from the front of the house and brought it to the back lawn when several of the Dwarf Alberta Spruce trees died during a drought a few years ago. Don't you just love that three story birdhouse?
It was a yard sale find a few years ago.
My Impatiens in a clump of Lily of the Valley and a wooden chair with another pot of Impatiens near a Hibiscus bush. That is a wooden basket on the chair beside the flower pot.

This is a view of the back of my house and the patio. I really need to get someone to come out and power wash the siding! This rainy spring has really taken its toll! Well, there you have it I hope you enjoyed my "garden tour!"

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS Hill Billy Style

Some people have trouble with all those 'shalls' and 'shall nots' in the Ten Commandments. Folks just aren't used to talking in those terms. So, in the middle of Tennessee, they translated the 'King James' into 'Jackson County' language...no joke.
(posted on wall at Cross Trails Church in Gainesboro, TN)

1. Just one God
2. Put nothin' before God
3. Watch yer mouth
4. Git yerself to Sunday meetin'
5. Honor yer Ma & Pa
6. No killin'
7. No foolin' around with another feller's gal
8. Don't take what ain't yers
9. No tellin' tales or gossipin'
10. Don't be hankerin' for yer buddie's stuff
Now that's plain an simple - - - Y'all have a nice day!

From an email I received that was funny, yet carried a very clear message! I hope this gives you a laugh or two (or at least a smile!) for Spiritual Sunday! A very big thank you to Charlotte and Ginger for hosting Spiritual Sundays.

I love this picture...the old bridge, the trees beyond. Doesn't it lead the eye into the unknown distance and make you wonder just where that bend in the road leads? These are the kinds of roads I love to drive just see what is around the next bend. Maybe just another farmhouse with cows and horses in the meadow. Maybe a small village with charming shoppes to wander through and, of course, a sweet outdoor cafe to stop and have lunch. I just needed to get away for awhile today and I picked this picture to take me there. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Have a lovely day!

I'd rather see a sermon
Than hear one any day;
I'd rather one should walk
with me
Than merely tell the way

The eye's a better pupil
And more willing than the
ear;
Fine counsel is confusing,
But example's always
clear.

And the best of all the
preachers
Are the men who live
their creeds;
For to see good put in
action
Is what everybody
needs.
