I've had one of "those" days

It started out like a normal day...I had an appointment scheduled for a cut, color and blow dry at noon and I was on time - arriving at the mall about 10 minutes early. I pulled into the parking spot, shifted into Park and reached for the ignition key to turn the car off. I did and when I pulled my hand away...what I saw froze my blood! Only half of the key was left on my keyring...the rest of the key was still in the ignition. It had broken completely off inside the ignition switch. I sat for a moment taking it all in and my first thought was - how am I getting home and second thought - who, of my girlfriends, was home today? Who could I call and what should I do next? Well, duh, there actually was no question about what to do next...I went into the salon and had my hair done, of course!
While there I thought about calling a tow truck, a locksmith, or...a thought popped into my head: why not try the key, see if I could manipulate it and start the car. If the car started I could then drive it home. One thought followed another - if the car started I wasn't too far from my mechanic, Dave's Auto Service. I said a little prayer and put the broken key into the ignition. Would my idea work or would it go bust? At first, the ignition just spun around and the key wouldn't stay put. Finally, just as I was about to give up, the key "locked" into place and I could turn the ignition and, wallah, the car started! What a sweet, sweet sound. I called Dave's on my cell (that great little invention that has "saved my bacon" more than a few times (thank you Daisy J!) Dave told me to bring the car right over and in about a half hour I was back on the road with a new ignition switch and new keys. It was a great feeling driving home, knowing that I was not alone. God is good - all the time!

Aack....wonder why it broke into? But you certainly made the right decision in keeping your hair appointment. :) My key is not a key at all....it's a funny looking black thing.

My granddaughter was playing that song - Jesus Take the Wheel
(Carrie Underwood I believe) - in my car today. Guess he was helping you that day! What a weird thing to have happen. Glad you were able to get your hair done, nothing should ever get in the way of that! Good thing you have a great mechanic too!

Have a super weekend.
Hugs - Mary.

I LOVE your priorities---a real woman moves forward with the hair appointment. Good for you. It gave you time to access the situation, formulate a plan and act on it--excellent work! ;-) Hope the rest of your week was better!!
