PACKING FOR A JOURNEY

A young Christian packing his bag for a journey

said to a friend, "I have nearly finished

packing. All I have to put in are

a guidebook,

a lamp,

a mirror,

a microscope,

a telescope,

a volume of fine poetry,

a few biographies,

a package of old letters,

a book of songs,

a sword,

a hammer, and

a set of tools."

"But you cannot put all that into your bag,"

objected the friend. "Oh, yes," said the Christian.

"Here it is." And he placed his Bible in

the corner of the suitcase and closed the lid.

-Anon.

I heard this many years ago and have appreciated it over the years. Thanks for posting this. It makes me feel good just reading it.

Wonderful story! Absolutely the only guidance we need! Years ago, a family member tried to get me involved with all of her astrology books...so not to offend (I would NOT worry about that today) I sat down and started reading a little...after about 15 minutes,my mind spinning from the gobblygook, I got up, grabbed my Bible, and told her that "everything I need to know is in HERE." I particularly like the "microscope" part! Blessings to you today,

Mary
