go back and read them. They are truly "get it off your chest" journals because, as far as I can see, I didn't do much except record the weather or moan about something that was going on with my job or my life. Of course, my creative writing teacher said to write at least three pages every morning...and so I did! They are fun to read now that I can look back at some of the silly things I was worried about then. It is so true...how important will this --------- (insert your problem of the moment) be in 5 years, 10 years or ever? Please join Dayle at A Collection of This and Thatfor more Simple Pleasures.

I enjoyed reading your post. Your blog is so pretty.
Jean, we're definitely thinking along the same lines. I have a stack of personal journals and so enjoy reading back over them. Some of them are quite intense, as I'm what I consider a "transparent" writer... too much so at times, perhaps. But, reading where we've been can certainly help us in where we're going.
Always a treat to see you at Simple Pleasures.
Oh I know what you mean. I have some even sillier journals from like ...let's say....5th and six grade where I moaned about my Mother! LOL!
I hav eso many now they fill a big box. What should I dod with them???? They were a great way to vent my thoughts....and you are right...they are not so important now.
I have some of my own, too sister Jean and times that I need to be reminded of His goodness, there they are! The ups and downs written in words but the invisible support of a faithful love, mercy, grace and forgiveness are forever etched...I love your stack! :) God bless.
I agree with what you said about it being a shame. What I write in my journal (it's an e-journal now) is raw and... um... shall we say, fluent. I do that much less now that I blog.
I love your simple pleasure.
I also love to go back through my prayer journals. That's a whole post all in its own, though, isn't it?
How neat that you have kept the journals over the years. I have attempted at that and failed many times, but blogging has helped with that. You can have your blog posts bound in books so that is what I intend to do to preserve the memories I've recorded here. Otherwise they would probably be lost in cyberspace someday! ~ Thanks for stopping by. Glad to meet you!
Jean, I've tried twice to leave you comments...I thought I had the problem with blogger resolved. UGH!
This is a test just to see if this one will go through...
Jean - at my writer's group on Tuesday we had a guest speaker who is a published writer. She said journals are a great way to generate stoy ideas. I also like to journal, although I don't do it faithfully. It is fun (and often enlightening) to read back over past posts.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Joan
I love going through old journals as well! It's amazing how life has changed over the years - priorities, relationships, and amazing how my faith has grown. I'll have to pull our my journals again - thanks for the reminder!
I love a beautiful journal -- I have several myself. And it's so true what you say about current problems. Sometimes when I am stressed about something, I ask myself, "Will this matter in a year?" Most often the answer is no!
So nice of you to stop by for a visit! I have found that my blog has replaced journaling and I'm starting to miss the feeling of pen on paper. Must try to do both! Have a blessed day!
I think journaling does such wonders to clear the mind! I always have to have spiral journals... just can't stand losing any space to binding.
I never mastered the art of writing a journal - my diaries always ended up more a catalogue of dentist appointments and the like! I've enjoyed reading your blog.
