On Tuesday of this week I went on a bus tour with our local Master Gardener's Club. Let me say right here and now. . .I am not a Master Gardener. I am the friend of a Master Gardener and was asked to go on a bus trip to the Ladew Topiary Gardens in Monkton, Maryland. It was a gorgeous day for a garden tour, sunny with a light breeze and no humidity. My kind of day.

This is the view of the Ladew Estate when our bus turned the corner onto the estate grounds.
This is a meadow called "The Bowl" as it is shaped like a shallow bowl and in the middle of it is a pool with a fountain. When Mr. Ladew was alive it was his swimming pool.
A lovely shaded area with rustic fence and day lilies blooming.
I love this shaded wooden bridge which leads to another "garden room."
Mr. Harvey Ladew had a sense of whimsy - here is Eve tempting Adam with the apple in the garden.
A beautiful, serene lily pad pool with all shades of green plantings surrounding it.
I met Cathy, left, and Gail at the bus early in the day and we spent the day together. Always a treat to make new friends. They are standing at the beginning arch of the rose garden.
Another view of the rose garden with a fountain in the center.

A photo of one of the many topiary garden rooms on the estate.
I came away from this garden tour refreshed by the beauty of the Maryland countryside and a new respect for the hours and hours needed to maintain these beautiful garden rooms. If you are ever in Maryland, you owe it to yourself to make time for a tour of this beautiful place.

This is exactly the type of way I like to spend my day. I love tours like this. My favorite shot of all was the little bridge one. I have a "thing" about little bridges.
And, I'm looking forward to another "Garden Road" tomorrow!
