Gentle Hands
A friend is one to whom one may pour out all the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away. -Unknown Author
A Precious Friend
-I think that god will never send
A gift so precious as a friend;
A friend who always understands
And fills each need as it demands;
Whose loyalty will stand the test,
When skies are bright or overcast;
Who sees the faults that merit blame,
But keeps on loving just the same;
Who does far more than creeds could do
To make us good, to make us true,
Earth's gifts a sweet enjoyment lend
But only God can give a friend.
-Rosalie Carter
About five years ago two friends and I decided, that since we were alone with families grown, we did not often have the chance to use our "good" china and other tableware. We would cook for one another at least once a month and "pull out all the stops," so to speak, and have a dinner party. It started with the three of us and now we are up to nine or ten depending on who is in town. Today we were all gathered at Anna's house to enjoy friendship, fellowship and good food.

What a grand idea. I just put our good silverware in the drawer with our every day flatware a few months ago. It just dawned on me that we might as well be enjoying it. It has been used only for special occasions for about 45 years. That's silly. Now we use it every day.

Charlotte

Wonderful idea... I got to use my china this week for some precious ladies from my Bible Study.
Jean, that is so beautiful, many times we keep our good china and silverware for special occasions only, but what is more special than our friends and family.
What a gorgeous and memorable tradition you and your friends have started.
Have a lovely week!
Hugs
Melly:)
