SIMPLE PLEASURES

It is time for me to start considering some serious spring planting - this is my neighbor's enclosure to keep the hungry bunnies out of her seedling sprouts.

I decided that's what I would have to do if I wanted to grow plants from seeds. I went to Ace Hardware and bought the fencing and posts I would need.

My little garden shed is attached to my house and is very small but very handy for storing all manner of things garden or otherwise!

I really enjoy cut flowers and I decided to grow Zinnias - the 36" variety. Nothing will bother them once they are established, but when they are tiny, tiny seedlings the squirrels run through the beds and the rabbits love the tasty tidbits! So I knew I would need a fence. Neighbors to the rescue and they helped me put up the enclosure.

This is what I picked - a nice colorful variety.

This is the finished enclosure. I've planted the seeds and am waiting the 7 to 10 days for them to appear.

Oh, and I've planted a grape tomato plant too...I love the sweet taste of grape tomatoes. How about you? How do you use them? I tend to eat them like, well, like grapes!

Guess who came to see what all the fuss was about today when I went out to check on the progress of the plants since we've had nothing but rain since I planted them! Isn't he adorable! Quite unafraid as I almost walked right up to him and then used the zoom lens to take his picture!

My Simple Pleasure is enjoying the pleasure of growing things in the great outdoors and the surprises I encounter.

Awesome. I'm having so much fun with my own first raised garden bed this spring. I'm procrastinating with the fencing but I need to get a move on before I'm sorry. My seedlings are only about an inch or so, but still. We have a lot of deer and I will CRY if they decide to snack on my lettuce and sweet pea starters!
I love to see other people's gardens. Thanks for sharing your simple pleasure.
Blessings to you and your garden. :)

Zinnias are a favorite garden flower of mine because you can pick and pick and pick and they just keep growing.

And they're so festive too.

Great job with the enclosure!

Hi Ms.Daisy,
I love gardens ..but.. sadly,I can only manage a few pots of odds and ends. I have Brown Thumbs and my plants don't always die ... they just don't grow well for me.
My sister Gwen is a good gardener..but she has to combat kangaroo, feral deer and rabbits where she lives. It's always a race as to who gets the roses first.
Wishing you a lovely harvest.
God Bless
