After my Mom passed away in February, I realized that I did not want my daughters to wonder who is who in the pictures that get left behind. These pictures were in a cardboard box with a couple hundred other pictures. We had to sort through the box to find all the pictures that went together. My Simple Pleasure today is "filling in the blanks" by labeling pictures. To see more Simple Pleasures go to A Collection of This and That

SIMPLE PLEASURES
A few years ago my daughter, Mrs. Tuneful, gave me this pretty scrapbook. I decided to use it for a trip my family took to Canada in the summer of 1946 to visit my Dad's relatives.
Here I am sitting on an old white (very gentle) farm horse on the farm of my Dad's Uncle.
Posing by the stream that ran through the dairy farm.
My little sister Margie and I sitting on rocks in the stream.

These pictures were in a cardboard box with a couple hundred other pictures. We had to sort through the box to find all the pictures that went together. Going through old family pictures is such a memory trip. I love looking at the hair styles, cars and fashion styles. They seem so pleasently simple.
That is the best idea. I would never have thought to go back in time and turn an event from memory into a scrapbook. We have so many old family photos that need to be identified while someone knows who is who and what in the world they're doing.
what great memories and a good idea to put these special pictures in a way that your children will know exactly who, what, where. Have fun with it....
Good on you, Jean!!
A memory book like this is invaluable to your family.
As one who loves genealogy, I applaud you for creating such a wonderful family record to leave your children :-)
The photos are just lovely!
bless you..Trish
Thanks for sharing your pleasure as its a treasure full of wonderful memories !!
That is a wonderful way to preserve history and a great gift for your family. I have so many pictures that need to be organized in a book, rather than just being stuffed away in a drawer. Hope you are having a great day! Tammy
Good for you. When I look at pictures and go down memory lane, I get so distracted so nothing else gets done. teehee
Hugs,
Cindy
I'm like Cindy above, with photos I always spend more time reminiscing than organising. Your finished result looks wonderful. A truly lovely simple pleasure.
Can't wait to see it in person! Do you have any pictures left over that you don't know who they are? I have so many of Dad's family ...and we don't know who they are! Sad!
I love, love the idea of "filling in the blanks." The scrapbook is just lovely.
Hello Jean...What a great simple pleasure. Future generations in your family will appreciate your effort. Susan
Jean - this is a wonderful idea. Just this weekend, I was going through some old photos - some that belonged to my mother and I don't know who some of the people are.
I loved looking at the photos of your trip - sweet memories.
Blessings,
Joan
I love that you did this book...I was with you that day! Thank you for labeling the pictures; it will help to keep our family memories intact! Love you, K
What an awesome idea. It turned out so great. You have given me the incentive to get out our old photos and do something like this. Thanks!!
